01What you are being asked
You are being invited to take part in the closed beta of a·mm·a (ask me, mama), a pregnancy and postnatal information companion. This form explains what taking part involves so that you can decide freely. It sits alongside the Beta Terms, which set out the rules of the beta, and the Privacy Policy, which explains how your data is handled. Where this form and the Privacy Policy differ on data, the Privacy Policy is the more recent statement.
02Who is running the beta
The beta is run by Oyoma Consulting FZ-LLC (licence RAKEZ20254215), FDAM0524 Compass Building, Al Shohada Road, Al Hamra Industrial Zone-FZ, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. Oyoma Consulting FZ-LLC is the data controller. The contact for anything about the beta is hey@askmemama.com.
03Confirming you can take part
By accepting this form you confirm that you:
- are 18 or over;
- live in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria or the United States;
- received a personal invitation and will not pass it to anyone else;
- are taking part as a mother or mother-to-be, or as a registered clinician;
- understand that a·mm·a is pre-launch software and may have faults.
04What taking part involves
- Using the app for roughly four weeks, as much or as little as you like. Around 100 people are taking part.
- A short check-in around day 3, asking whether a·mm·a has been useful so far.
- An exit survey around day 14, covering usefulness, how likely you are to recommend a·mm·a, and whether you would pay for it. It takes about two minutes.
- An optional 20-minute research conversation by video or phone, if you choose to book one. We take notes; we do not record without asking first.
- In-app feedback through the feedback button, whenever you want to tell us something.
The check-in, the survey and the conversation are all optional. Not answering has no effect on your access.
05Your two data choices
At the start of onboarding you will see two separate switches. Both start off, and you can change either at any time in Settings.
Personal data
Switching this on lets us store your profile (pregnancy stage, history, conditions, medications, allergies and, if you choose, family history) and your conversations against your account, so that answers can be personalised. This is health information, a special category of personal data, and we hold it only with this explicit consent. With it off, you can still ask general questions in anonymous mode.
Anonymous analytics
Switching this on lets the app record anonymous usage events, such as "onboarding completed" or "a source was opened". These carry no user ID and never include the words of your questions or answers.
06What happens to your information
- Your account, profile, conversations and feedback are stored on infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates.
- To answer a question, the context needed for that answer is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic PBC, in the United States. It is used to produce the answer and is not used to train AI models.
- We never sell your data, and during the beta nothing about you is shared with any clinic, hospital, employer, insurer, NGO or researcher.
- Personal data is kept for the beta period plus 30 days, then permanently deleted, unless you delete it sooner.
The full detail is in the Privacy Policy, sections 3 to 9.
07Risks and limits
- a·mm·a is not medical advice. Answers are written by AI and can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Check anything important with your midwife, obstetrician or GP, and do not delay care because of something a·mm·a said.
- a·mm·a is not an emergency service and is not monitored in real time. If you think you or your baby may be in danger, contact emergency services or your maternity unit now: 998 or 999 in the UAE, 999 or 111 in the UK, 112 in Nigeria, 911 in the US.
- It is a beta. Features may change or stop working and the app may be unavailable at times.
- Sensitive topics. Some questions touch on loss, mental health or difficult histories. You can pause the app at any time from Settings; pausing turns off weekly content and notifications and shifts answers toward support.
08What you get
Free access to a·mm·a for the beta period, and a direct say in what it becomes. There is no payment for taking part. At the end of the beta we will ask, separately, whether you would like early access at launch and whether you are willing to be contacted about future research. Each is its own choice.
09Withdrawing
You can withdraw at any time, without giving a reason, by using Settings › Delete my data in the app or by emailing hey@askmemama.com. Deletion is immediate and permanent. Withdrawing does not affect anything processed before you withdrew, and anonymous events already recorded cannot be linked back to you and so cannot be retrieved.
10If you are a clinician
You will test the clinician tools in a sandbox that holds synthetic, made-up patient records only. You confirm that you will not enter real patient information, that you will not use a·mm·a to make or support real patient-care decisions during the beta, and that you are registered with a recognised professional regulator in your country. Your feedback on clinical accuracy is the most valuable thing you can give us.
11How your consent is recorded
When you accept this form, the Beta Terms and the Privacy Policy, we record that you did so, with a timestamp, against your account. Each time a data switch changes, an anonymous audit entry records which switch changed and its new setting, but not who changed it. If we make a material change to any of the three documents, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and you can leave if you do not agree.
12Consent statement
By tapping I agree in the app, you confirm that:
- you have read this form, the Beta Terms and the Privacy Policy, or have had them explained to you;
- you understand that a·mm·a provides information and not medical advice, and that it is pre-launch software;
- you understand that your personal data and anonymous analytics are each stored only if you switch them on, and that you can turn either off at any time;
- you agree to be contacted about the beta check-in, the optional research conversation and the exit survey, and understand that each is optional;
- you know that you can withdraw at any time without giving a reason, and how to do so;
- you meet the eligibility conditions in section 3.
13Questions
Anything about this form, the beta or your data: hey@askmemama.com. We reply within 30 days, usually much sooner. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority; the Privacy Policy lists them.
